The Outward Mindset enables individuals and organizations to make the one change that most drastically improves performance, collaboration and accelerates innovation—a shift to thinking about people differently. Seeing people as “people” and not as objects, things or vehicles for personal or selfish gains is one of the benefits for participants attending the class. This in turn, helps to create a culture so that people will feel valued and want to lend their talents and services for the fulfillment of the Navy’s mission.
Designed to provide the participants a basic academic understanding in how leadership has evolved from the late 1800’s to present day operations; where leadership theories and modern constructs are discussed and examined throughout the presentation. To accomplish this the following is analyzed: Great Man Theory, Traits Theory, Behaviors Theory, Contingency Theory, Influence Theory, and Relational theory.
This workshop is designed for participants to learn tools for communicating when stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions vary. It teaches a straightforward, step-by-step process for identifying and resolving performance gaps, strengthening accountability, eliminating inconsistency, and reducing resentment. Participants learn the dialogue skills to help them learn how to: speak persuasively and not abrasively, foster teamwork and better decision making, build acceptance rather than resistance, and resolve individual and group disagreements.
Participants learn how to talk about unmet expectations in a way that yields two-way accountability and allows further progress to be made. Consistent application of the skills leads to faster problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution. When issues are resolved and focus is restored, productivity increases, relationships are strengthened, and high-performance cultures are formed.
